"In just a few lines [a person can deliver] an emotional resume, a lineage of family, a history of trauma and resilience, a narrative far more personal and revealing than any standard self introduction." -Reagan Jackson, The Seattle Globalist

Thursday, April 21, 2016 @ SAM 7 - 9PM

In a transparent and commendable effort to reach out to and include people of color, the Seattle Art Museum has allowed me the opportunity to "activate" the Kehinde Wiley galleries as part of an upcoming tour on Thursday, April 21, 2016.
What to Expect
The 90-minute tour will begin at 7pm. We will meet as a group next to the main ticket desk so everyone can receive their free passes to the upstairs galleries. The image below shows the general vacinity where we will meet. You can't miss the giant gold-framed painting of the horse rearing up.
It's a Tour, Workshop & Performance
This tour will be led/facilitated by:
-
Anastacia Tolbert
Hugo House Writer-in-Residence -
Evan Peterson
Founding EIC Minor Arcana Press -
Natasha Marin (Me)
Red Lineage Project Lead
Gallery One
In small groups (10 - 15) participants will
explore the Wiley galleries while creating
original Red Lineage poems with support
from Anastacia, Evan, and Natasha.
Gallery Two
Participants will be encouraged to embody
their new Red Lineage personas and will archive them using social media as audio recordings, photographs or selfies, and/or video. Professional photographers will be onsite to assist. Please use the hashtag: #REDLINEAGE.
Gallery Three
All three groups will reconvene in the final gallery for a choral performance and recitation of their newly created Red Lineage poems. This is likely to be a dynamic and surprising conclusion to the event.
The tour will conclude at 9pm. All ages welcome.
