June 25 & 26, 2016 (Sat/Sun)

This two-day course will be a dynamic, multidisciplinary endeavor. Participants will create/customize their Red Lineage poems with support from their peers and instructor. Finished poems will be further developed into multimedia sonic, visual, and tactile “revisions” to be showcased as part of this global poetry project.

Red Lineage: Re-Imagining and Rewriting “Family”

Day One will consist of both individual and group writing activities with related discussions as part of the “workshop” process. For the second half of the day, we will explore the idea of lineage and family—real and imagined—by creating collages that will become part of the final digital showcase.

Red Lineage: The Politics of the Body

Day Two will begin with Red Lineage family portraits taken in the salon gallery—participants will be encouraged to embody their new Red Lineage personas and will work together to create audio and video recordings of their original poems. The second half of the day will be focused on performance and recitation.

All participants must register to attend.
